Meta

As a SAM-LAB design lead for projects with Meta, I primarily lead design for keynote presentations and print collateral for live and virtual external and internal events, summits and conferences with up to 3k in attendance. I train and nurture a remote team of designers then ensure the look and feel, design, photography and copy is accurately storytelling and in a compelling way.

Hundreds of production hours go into making hundreds of pieces of communication design that is cohesive, commands attention and is easy to digest. I collaborate directly with all stakeholders and PMs in an intricate, fast-moving process we define on the onset of each project. Aside from the planning meetings and chats, I have traveled domestically and internationally to venues and Meta offices for rehearsals, live changes and to support speakers and A/V teams. I enjoy the energy and unique challenges being onsite offers. This sometimes requires direct flights to multiple locations back-to-back, and days of little sleep, but it’s very fulfilling.

Below are a few examples of live events, along with a case study for a virtual elearning project I led.

I also lead design of global projects that require a consistent approach to multiple countries, language, varied data, and proper representation of respective cultures. When COVID-19 halted live events, we fully pivoted to online events, webinars and interactive learning modules. Extensive project management processes and new software training was necessary to keep multiple teams on track with large volumes of logistically-complex modules consistent in design and content approach. I took the lead in this execution. This required constant, transparent communication as aspects of the project evolved at breakneck speed.

After a successful launch of the database, our team was awarded with multiple large volume projects involving a large database of modules.

What was accomplished:

  • A clear project management process

  • A consistent look and feel for modules that is simple and clear to follow

  • Promoted interactivity

  • Reflected inclusivity, accessibility and diversity

  • Facilitated an easy route to certification

Oh yeah, I also created fun templates for Instagram :-)
